Disability Claim Management

At MDM, we understand that after an illness or injury the road to recovery can be lengthy. That is why we believe that an early start in assisting someone back to a healthy work state should be simple and clear.

Our Aim

Our aim is to plan a healthy course of action, consistent with sound medical practice, with the intention of returning the claimant back to their previous employment or modified job. Our Disability Case Manager (a Registered Nurse) and other support personnel, make direct contact with you (the employer), the claimant, the primary physician/specialist, and other treatment providers as appropriate, while maintaining confidentiality.

How It Works

As soon as an employee has been absent from work due to illness or injury for five consecutive days, the employer contacts MDM. With this information in hand, our Visit Team prepares to meet with the claimant at home or hospital, the employer, and the family doctor, and coordinates the support of specialists. This ensures that active and appropriate treatment is ongoing throughout the duration of the claim. It helps to determine if there are other avenues of assistance or additional health care needs.

Team Resources and Abilities

Early Intervention focuses on one’s ability, not disability. Therefore, our goal is to collectively assist the claimant in finding the right tools and solutions for a healthy recovery and ideally to return the employee back to the workforce. To accomplish this, we maintain open communication between all parties. This allows for all involved to stay current on the abilities of the claimant while working with the employer and the physician to determine physical restrictions or limitations with regards to the claimant. Our access to a wide range of resources and our commitment allows us to provide assistance in the following areas:

Job-related Stress
Grief from Loss
Depression
Post Traumatic Stress
Illness
Incident Grief
Injuries
Substance Abuse
Family Issues
Personal Issues
Assisting in Vocational Rehabilitation Support
Conflict Resolution
